So I think I'm getting sick. I have a student who came to school last week with a fever. The first day I sent her to the nurse and she was sent back to my classroom. She was draggy, but what can I do? The second day, she wasn't herself at all. How can a mother (in this case) not tell her own child is sick? I sent her to the clinic again and her fever was higher but they couldn't reach mom so she was sent back to my classroom. I gave the nurse an earful because if she is sick she should NOT be exposing other students. She should be laying down. And the nurse shot back at me because she was pissed at mom for using school as a babysitter. I guess we were both frustrated.
Long story short, by lunchtime her fever was 102 and we finally reached mom that afternoon. She had strep throat (poor thing!). And shame on mom for not updating our contact information for her. Another pet peeve of mine as a teacher, and a note to parents and parents-to-be. Make sure your child's school can reach you!!!
Fast forward one week. I have a sore throat, one painful ear, and a headache. And I haven't been able to eat all day. But no fever... but I am quite paranoid. I almost think I am having phantom symptoms because I know it's been seven days!
Another thought. I might start trying to sell my pottery. I am thinking about opening a shop at Etsy (www.etsy.com) - it is kind of an Ebay for artists. Except it doesn't have all the BS that Ebay is becoming notorious for. I am just becoming more consistent and someone out there *might* be willing to pay for what I do. I'll keep all y'all posted.
