books...

I've been catching up on my reading - although my pile (if I can even call it that) is overwhelming. And to add to that, I bought two new books last night. Why do I do this to myself???

Right now I'm reading Bill Cosby's Come On People. So far it's not bad - a lot of stats about African American men (the stats are pretty depressing)... I've only been through chapter 1, but I hope he offers some suggestions for how to reverse the trends he's outlining. We'll see.

I'm also reading The BFG to my second graders. Typical fucked-up Roald Dahl but the kids are loving it. It's a tough read aloud because there is so much invented language.

I think I'm going to add a "what I'm reading" section to my blog. Who knows if I'll be able to keep that updated, I go through books every few days (when the boy isn't around anyways!). I set myself the goal of 2 books a month.

By the way, I'm feeling a little more balanced today. I was having quite the emotional day on my last post. :) Still sad, still missing him of course, but not blubbering about it. I'm going to Miami February 9-11th to visit him, and he'll be back on the 14th. It'll be nice to be in warm weather for a couple of days!
