Ever had an ultrasound of your heart? (Echocardiogram is the actual name - no idea how it's spelled...) Anyways, it might be the coolest thing I've ever seen. All different views/angles, noises that you would never hear from a stethoscope, graphs, doppler charts, etc. They didn't give me a picture of it like they do of ultrasounds of babies. That would be kind of funny to be able to literally hand someone your heart, though. (Also I finally figured out why it's called the heart - not only because it is obviously an important part of your body, but the ventricles actually look like the shape of a heart right before they pump the blood out of there.
Got lots of information too. In the last few months I've learned about all sorts of idiosyncracies that my body has. Interesting to know, but I don't know what good it will do me. I have a funny valve - not funny enough to pay any attention to because it will never wreak any havoc unless it gets infected or the walls break down (highly unlikely). There's a name for it - Mitrovalve Prolapse I think. Common in women, associated with arrhythmia and murmur. Explains why I had a murmur until I was a teenager. And tells us that I have an off chance of developing one again later in life (if the walls break down - once again, highly unlikely). That on top of my Second Degree Atrioventricular Block. A mouthful, but that's what shows up on my EKG. So I am now 28 with two heart conditions. :) Both of which are non issues - idiosyncracies. My doctor liked that word.
That aside, still haven't figured out my dizzy spells so I'm on another stupid monitor to see if I can catch a big one. Nice thing is, I had one while in possession of the last monitor; just didn't have the monitor on at the time. And I have those attacks maybe once every six months? But the doctor wants to get one on record so here I go again with the sticky things that leave welts on my chest and abdomen because of my lovely adhesive allergies.
Better to be over cautious, I guess? And to figure out for real what goes on in there?
On another note, I'm participating in the Secret Santa gift exchange at my school. Should be interesting - I love buying things for other people, but I HATE (and I mean hate) receiving crappy gifts that I will never use and therefore will throw away or regift at some point - in hopes that it would never get back to the original buyer. But I figure that if nothing else, acting all Whovilly will make the last week before Holiday break a little more bearable.
